Archaeology of Faces exhibition of Cesena artist Salvatore Gennaro, curated by Andrea Antonioli (historian, archaeologist and writer), Vittorio Spampinato (art critic and Director of NuovaMente) and Renato Ongania (Director of WikiSemiotics).
The exhibition highlights the artistic and expressive talent of Salvatore Gennaro, who trained at the school of Nello Galvani of Ravenna, known as 'il Cotignola', which he attended for ten years. His pictorial language embraces different styles: from portraiture to figurative, from abstract to informal. A member of the A.D.A.R.C. (Cesena Artists' Association) and collaborator of the Olim Flaminia Study Centre, Gennaro has numerous solo and group exhibitions to his credit. He has also participated in museum projects in the archaeological, scientific and historical fields, producing illustrative panels, reconstructive drawings and graphics. His works have been adopted by scholars and authors, and published in various volumes on history, literature, art and non-fiction.
The exhibition is configured as a journey through the faces of historical and mythological characters, between thoughts and metaphors, in a profound dialogue between art, archaeology and physiognomy, involving disciplines such as history, philosophy, literature, semiotics and anthropology. A multidisciplinary interaction that, with intensity and suggestion, sets out to explore thought and human nature through the artistic interpretation and sensitivity of Salvatore Gennaro.
