EVENT LINK
Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 March sees the debut of 'Walk & Run for Women' - Walk and Run for Women's Rights, the event that goes beyond the concept of a simple sporting event to become an integrated platform for awareness-raising and culture.
The schedule of the event is divided into two main moments between in-depth analysis and sports activities. The opening is scheduled for Saturday, 7 March at the Palazzo del Turismo, with a day entirely dedicated to workshops and public meetings. Here, experts and institutional representatives will discuss national and European practices in the field of rights and health: to ensure maximum participation, all debates will be streamed live on Assist's social and YouTube channels.
The beating heart of the event will move outdoors on Sunday 8 March, with the official departure from Piazzale Ceccarini. The morning will be dedicated to motor activity with three different options designed to involve every type of participant: 2 and 5 kilometre walks and a non-competitive 10 kilometre run. The route, which will cross the seafront and the streets of the city centre, has been designed with a special focus on accessibility for people with disabilities, confirming the inclusive soul of the event.
The visual and cultural impact of the day will be enhanced by an exhibition set up along the itinerary, with installations dedicated to iconic figures from science, culture and sport who have marked the history of women's rights. The entire coordinated image of the event also bears the signature of the famous artist Stefania Spanò, aka Anarkikka.
Testifying to the importance of the message of the "Walk & Run for Women" will be some legends of Italian sport, who will be present both during the workshops and at the starting line: from the double Olympic gold medallist in cycling Antonella Bellutti to volleyball legend Manuela Benelli, to Stefania Passaro, a star of Italian basketball, and Eva Ceccatelli, European sitting volleyball champion.
