The age-old charm of Verucchio, an ancient village dating back to the Villanovan period, shines once more with the 42nd edition of the Verucchio Music Festival, organised by the local council under the artistic direction of Ponderosa Music & Art. This year, the festival takes on a new format: all concerts will be free to attend, subject to availability.
Before the main concerts take place in Piazza Battaglini, the Festival presents two unmissable special events designed as a true cultural preview. Two events of the highest calibre, both scheduled for 9.00 pm and free to attend.
Sunday 19 July | At the Rocca Malatestiana
The festival officially opens in the magnificent setting of the Rocca Malatestiana with the show “Lo Specchio di Borges”, starring the actor and director Massimiliano Finazzer Flory. An evening suspended between literature, philosophy and theatre, bringing together the evocative imagery and mental labyrinths of the great Argentine writer with the timeless atmosphere of the fortress’s ancient walls.
Tuesday 21 July | At the Teatro Pazzini
The second event, meanwhile, marks the grand return of opera to the heart of Verucchio. The stage of the Teatro Pazzini will host a production of “Così fan tutte”, one of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s absolute masterpieces and most beloved works. A playful drama brimming with romantic entanglements, irony and immortal arias, perfect for introducing the audience to the great operatic tradition within an intimate and acoustically perfect setting.
These two special events provide the perfect cultural prelude before the Festival moves to its natural open-air stage, in the churchyard of the Collegiate Church. A unique opportunity to experience summer in Verucchio amidst art, history and spectacular entertainment.
