A Night at the Museum: Eutyches and the Imperial-era mosaics
Comune di Rimini
Events may be subject to change, always contact organizers before going to the venue.
Guided tour organised by Visit Rimini. Every Wednesday from 15 July to 19 August 2026.
A fascinating guided tour of the Surgeon’s House in Rimini, one of the city’s most significant archaeological sites.
The tour takes you through the rooms of the house that belonged to Eutyches, a doctor from the 2nd century AD, including the medical taberna, where an ancient inscription commemorates him as a ‘good man’. Visitors can admire precious mosaics from the Imperial period, such as the famous mosaic of Orpheus and the refined geometric floor patterns in the private rooms.
The tour also allows you to trace the different periods revealed by the excavations: from the Roman domus to the late antique complex, right through to the medieval structures that bear witness to the area’s transformations over the centuries.
The tour continues to the City Museum, where the extraordinary artefacts unearthed are on display: over 150 surgical instruments, the exquisite pynax, furnishings and decorations that tell the story of Eutyches’ life and work.
An experience combining archaeology, Roman medicine and millennia of history.
