THE STORY OF STEFANO BERTI AND RAVALDINO SANGIOVESE.

Stefano Berti, the Master of Ravaldino, one day felt a deep longing, a real pressing need, to be close to the earth, taking refuge in the countryside of Ravaldino in Monte.

So he decided to leave Forlì and live in the country and make the countryside his work; he chose to take care of his farm, fields and vineyard.

Stefano is north of the Predappio sub-zone, between Meldola and Forlì, close to the ridge of Rocca delle Caminate, and it is there that he has lived and worked for forty years; his has been a silent career, almost a meditation, a lingering in silence.

Stefano has allowed time to linger and perfume; he has done so through his family and through his two Predappio Sangiovese wines: Calisto and Ravaldo, who are like sons in some ways.

On Tuesday 23 July we will dedicate a monograph to Stefano Berti, with a retrospective of his two most important Sangioveses, a precious tasting for the history of Romagna wine.

It will be a privilege.
