The sea and the beach, symbols of escape and freedom, are transformed into a stage for an extraordinary new photographic exhibition: 'Mare Magnum. From Ferdinando Scianna to Martin Parr. Magnum photographers and the beaches", staged from 19 April to 5 October at Villa Mussolini.
The exhibition, curated by Andréa Holzherr, presents the works of eight photographers from the Magnum agency: Ferdinando Scianna, Bruno Barbey, Bruce Gilden, Harry Gruyaert, Trent Parke, Olivia Arthur, Newsha Tavakolian and Martin Parr. By Ferdinando Scianna, among others, a series of photos taken in 1989 precisely in Riccione will be exhibited, while by Martin Parr there will be some of the most iconic beach shots.
Through the shots of these great masters of international photography, the visitor will be able to observe the various facets of the beach, where carefree moments of happiness, play and relaxation are mixed with moments of boredom, isolation and reflection, offering a profound look at the human condition.
