This is a story we want to tell with freshness and delicacy. The charm of Prokofiev's composition lies in telling the story with music, and each instrument in the orchestra will be a character.
Pierino, a 'lonely' child, has the bird, the duck and the cat as his 'best friends'. A great hunger unites Pierino with the inhabitants of the village and the wolf. But the wolves in this world are many and have many faces; one must learn to recognise them and defend oneself!
