In 2023, during the 57th Premio Riccione per il Teatro, a committee of critics awarded the Special Prize for Dramaturgical Innovation to Marco D'Agostin, an associate artist of the Piccolo Teatro di Milano, working in the fields of dance, theatre and performance.
Born in 1987, D'Agostin already has two Ubu Prizes to his credit, won in 2018 as best performer under 35 and in 2023 for the dance show "Gli anni". The Riccione Special Prize for dramaturgical innovation - awarded out of competition to a personality capable of opening up new perspectives to the world of theatre - was awarded to him for his ability to "reason with rigour on the dialectic between dramaturgy and gesture, showing a remarkable sensitivity to the textual dimension". As the critics Lorenzo Donati, Roberta Ferraresi, Maddalena Giovannelli, Rossella Menna, Andrea Pocosgnich and Francesca Saturnino wrote in their motivation, "D'Agostin weaves accomplished and articulated dramaturgies, combining research on the body with the material concreteness of the document (letters, objects, videos, photographs)". His creative act "always starts from an intimate confrontation with writings, literary works, authors and authors, which become foundations on which to build original compositional architectures, never subordinate to the model. D'Agostin therefore continuously innovates the scenic form, deconstructing and unhinging the boundaries - still too solid in Italy - between theatre and dance".
One year on, the Riccione TTV Festival dedicates a focus to D'Agostin and invites him to tell the public about his idea of theatre.
Free entrance, reservation required.
