From 2 to 4 May, Villa Franceschi will host the first edition of 'Lettura in Salotto', a new literary event sponsored by Riccione City Council and organised by the Viale Ceccarini Area Consortium.
The project, conceived by bookblogger Giorgia Negrini, offers three days of appointments dedicated to emerging voices and new proposals from the Italian publishing scene, in a context that combines beauty, culture and conviviality.
The festival will open on Friday 2 May with a special moment: at 3.30 p.m. "Leggendo in silenzio" (Reading in silence) will be held, a meeting inspired by a tradition born in New York and now widespread all over the world. Participants will gather in the cosy rooms of Villa Franceschi (or in its garden, weather permitting) to read together, each one their favourite book, in a cosy atmosphere with soft lighting and gentle background music. A simple and powerful gesture that creates a thin thread between people, united by the silent sharing of stories. At the end of the reading, there will be an opportunity to exchange impressions and emotions, telling what made us choose that particular book.
Also on Friday, at 4.30 p.m., there will be a guided tour of the permanent collection in Villa Franceschi. Following this, at 5 p.m., Gaia Lombezzi will present her novel "L'estate che ho ucciso mio nonno" (Bollati Boringhieri), and at 7 p.m. it will be the turn of Erica Cassano with her book "La Grande Sete" (Garzanti).
On Saturday 3 May, at 5 p.m., Enrico Della Rosa will talk about his historical research work in his book "Il cognome Della Rosa" (Incontri Editrice), while at 9 p.m. Gaia Trussardi will present her memoir "Cara morte, amica mia" (Brioschi).
The review will end on Sunday 4 May, at 3.30 p.m., with Lucia Renati who will talk about her novel "Niente di Scontato" (Sperling & Kupfer), a tale of hope and courage.
The meetings will be conducted by Giorgia Negrini, the initiative's creator, together with Debora Grossi, a contributor to Il Resto del Carlino, who will accompany authors and the public through stories and dialogues.
