Alongside this emotional and symbolic dimension, scientific research investigates their evolutionary strategies, invisible relationships and surprising biological mechanisms, right up to the deciphering of their genome.

Paola Bonfante is Professor Emeritus of Plant Biology at the University of Turin and a leading international scholar of the relationships between plants and microorganisms. She is a member of the Accademia dei Lincei, the Accademia delle Scienze di Torino, the Accademia di Agricoltura di Torino, the Académie d'Agriculture de France and the European Academy. She has been listed several times among the Highly Cited Researchers of Clarivate Analytics and is among the most internationally cited Italian scientists.

Oliviero La Stella worked for many years as a journalist for Il Messaggero. He combines journalistic activities with teaching and authorship.
