Ezio Mauro proposes a special live press review dedicated to one of the most decisive moments in Italian history: the vote on 2 June 1946, when Italians were called upon to choose between monarchy and republic and elect the Constituent Assembly charged with writing the new Constitution. For the first time in national history, women also voted, protagonists of an achievement that marked a turning point in the history of democratic citizenship.

Through the newspapers of the time, leafed through and commented live, Mauro reconstructs the political, social and cultural climate of those crucial days: the wait for the institutional referendum, popular participation, the birth of the Republic and the entry of women into the political life of the country.

Ezio Mauro began his career as a journalist in 1972 at the "Gazzetta del Popolo di Torino", covering, among other things, events linked to political terrorism. In May 1996 he became editor of "la Repubblica", a role he continued to hold for twenty years. He is the author and presenter of the programme 'La Scelta' aired on Rai 3.
