20th century by the sea | The Republic is a woman. From the Resistance to the first vote
Benedetta Tobagi, introduced by Valeria Cicala
The history of Italian women finds one of its most decisive moments in the Resistance. Alongside the armed struggle and political mobilisation against Nazi-Fascism, thousands of women were protagonists in a profound transformation of Italian society, which would pave the way for the conquest of new rights and, a few years later, the female vote and the birth of the Republic.
How are political freedoms, social rights and gender identity intertwined? And what relationship exists between civil resistance, armed choice and the desire for peace?
Admission free while places last.
Benedetta Tobagi, writer and historian, has been a radio presenter and author for RAI and collaborates with "la Repubblica". She follows educational projects and teacher training activities on the history of the 1970s and terrorism with the "Rete degli archivi per non dimenticare" and other associations.
Valeria Cicala has coordinated the Communication and Information area of the Regional Institute for Cultural Heritage and was editor-in-chief of the magazine "IBC Informazioni"; she is a freelance journalist, lecturer in training courses and master's degree courses on communication and dissemination of cultural heritage.
